Paving The Combat ~ Sosostyle Approved!

2010 saw the creative footwear world take a plunge into the era of fancy shoelace, statement scuffed irony. With the gradual progression of cowboy boot meets girl next door  funk wear, to an even more edgy, laid back boot look.

The Combat boot has been a stamped favourite of mine – quintessential fun wear, with a license to thrill – complimenting our leggy street style attitude.

The unisex foot flavour has made a comeback this season – in a range of colours, from classic black to worn and torn style, gravel greys and browns.

The streets of New York are currently playing happy to an array of fine fitting, Nicholas K inspired combat beauties. The trick with Combats, similar to that of it’s uniformed cousin,  the Utilarian boot, is that it is one part of your fashion wardrobe that is easy to incorporate into any style. Whether it’s vintage enthused, casual wear by day, or evening, cordial glamour – the combat boot is your new wardrobe’s new best friend. The accent to a mirage of fashion lovers, Kate Bosworth and Issabelle Lucas being but a few named examples. These ladies demonstrate the art of merging street grunge with the sterling sleek cuts of high end glamour, wo else could pair up combats with knee length pencil skirts?

Adding to that essential rush of 90’s grunge glamour –  Combats can be the one element to complete any outfit, adding style character,  or even the opposite by creating a more casual, understated look.
